Neptune Court

We created four animated films that introduce the character Walt to help explain complex navigational methods and techniques, linking objects on display with the wider context of the historical building. Through trial and error Walt learns how to use an Astrolabe, how to use his body to measure, how GPS works and how to navigate without any instruments in the shark infested waters of the South Pacific.

Northover&Brown also designed an in-gallery interactive to explain to a family audience how a 3D globe becomes a 2D map. Through both interpretations, visitors were invited to engage and play with the multi-sensory experience whilst being guided to observe specific technical objects and subject matter that can often feel out of reach or intimidating.

With animation support from Norm Konyu & Filipe Alçada and programming by Sam Turner.
