Nick Baker’s Weird Weekend promo

Mel provided concept visual development for the characters and environments and animated content for these Animal Planet promos celebrating creatures whose existence defies belief; the star nosed mole, the jerboa and pangolin, producing 2D animated sequences to guide 3D animation production by agency Smithereen who commissioned the work.

Some early animation style tests are also included here. We were delighted that the promo went on to win a gold at Promax.
