Linda Brothwell
Conversations in Making

Our fourth exhibition for English Heritage at Stonehenge gave us the opportunity to collaborate with artist Linda Brothwell whose artworks formed the focus of the site’s first contemporary art exhibition. Our careful intervention needed to support and give context to the collaborative project without overshadowing the beautiful works.

Using abstract imagery printed directly to copper Dibond, we wanted to evoke the patina on copper-based metals and convey a strong sense of materiality that complemented the beautiful vessels made by Linda whose collection of 40 copper and silver bowls, beakers and vessels chart the connection between the landscape and the communities that have lived around the monument, both past and present.

Pattern and colour were carefully aligned to graduate from high to low contrast along the length of each sheet, keeping the field of vision clear of distraction and allowing the vessels to come to the fore.
