Life is Easy With Directions

How to Sumo Wrestle was one of a series of nine traditionally animated channel idents for Discovery, designed as a quirky instruction manual to help guide the audience through life’s rather more unusual difficulties. Some of the rest of the series are shown here along with stills and character turn-arounds. The idents were animated in pencil, scanned and composited in After Effects by the team at Smithereen who commissioned the work. Voice over talents courtesy of Mel’s comedy hero John Cleese.
